Parents protest over planned Kingston phone mast

Parents are protesting against plans for a mobile phone mast to be installed inside a church that is close to a Kingston primary school.

The group has demonstrated with warning signs to highlight the potential health and safety dangers of erecting the mast, which would be installed inside St Luke's church, reports the Surrey Comet.

Louisa Collyer-Hamlin, a pregnant mother of two who lives in Gibbon Road, told the newspaper: "The main concern is health and safety, especially as there's a high proportion of school children."

If the church gives the green light to the plans, it could gain £8,000 a year in rental income.

Last week, Irish pop group Westlife were forced to interrupt their concert in Jakarta as a result of safety worries.

Fans began to surge forward during the event, causing concerns that they could be crushed if fast action was not taken. ADNFCR-2754-ID-800754469-ADNFCR
