Capita's occupational health service has collected two health and safety awards, indicating the recognition that can come the way of firms that adopt measures such as safety signage.

The Aberdeen company has been presented with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents' (RoSPA) gold award following a high level of performance in its approach to stopping accidents among its staff, reports the Press and Journal.

In addition, it also won a silver award from the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives.

Firms that collect RoSPA's gold award have to demonstrate "well-developed occupational health and safety management systems and culture, outstanding control of risk and very low levels of error, harm and loss".

Elsewhere, Faisal Rana from the Leeds firm United Petroleum has collected the inaugural Xmo Strata safety award.

Mr Rana won the honour after providing a constant improvement in health and safety on forecourts, while judges also commended the variety of ideas shown in his Goal Zero initiative, praising its cost-effective safety ideas.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801267698-ADNFCR
