Aker Solutions handed safety awards

The importance of adhering to health and safety laws by taking measures such as using safety signage has recently been outlined.
Two operations from Aberdeen company Aker Solutions have been given awards for their commitment to health and safety in the workplace.
Its Aker Qserv and Aker Subsea business units have both been handed an International Safety Award with Merit as part of the British Safety Council Awards, which are highly-regarded by the Health and Safety Executive.
Alan Brunnen, managing director of Aker Subsea Ltd, said: "Having this confirmed by an international accreditation organisation like the British Safety Council independently endorses our efforts to date."
It is the thirteenth year in succession that Subsea have been honoured in the awards, whie Aker Qserv is celebrating its seventh consecutive accolade.
Aviva is another company that has focused on health and safety, with the business recently launching its Simply Safety campaign, which is designed to highlight the importance of safe working standards.
