Bakery staff highlight importance of health and safety signs

25th February 2010 | Health and Safety Signs

Staff at a Warburton's bakery have been praised after highlighting the importance of using health and safety signs.

Workers at the Newburn bakery in Newcastle-upon-Tyne have put new safety measures in place in an attempt to reduce the number of people in the region having workplace accidents.

Last year, over 4,000 working days were lost in the region due to workplace injury, and Health and Safety Executive principal inspector David Cole said it is good to see the bakery staff get behind its Shattered Lives campaign.

"It's great that Warburton's is backing the campaign and is helping its employees understand and control the potential for slips, trips and falls to happen. Slips, trips and falls shatter the lives of thousands of British workers ever year," he said.

Today, the importance of using precautions such as safety signs will be highlighted when an event in Penrith, Cumbria, teachers workers how to use safety measures to prevent accidents.
