Bath bus gate 'needs more warning signs'

A lane restricted to buses in Bath during the daytime needs more warning signs for other motorists to avoid them travelling through it, it has been claimed.

The Bath and North East Somerset Council suggested that it may take the measure following appeals from the public that more must be done to inform car drivers that the gate is not to be used.

According to This is Bath, the number of motorists falling foul of the current rules suggests that the signage around the bus gate is not sufficient and more effective non-regulation warnings could be deliberated over.

A spokesman for the council said: "Officers are now considering what can be done within the existing regulations, such as further signage and advance warnings."

Devon County Council recently confessed that too many warning signs notifying motorists of potential skid risks have been installed on Offwell's Featherbed Lane, after one resident has suggested to the Midweek Herald that the signs are needless.
