BBC helps to change confusing Belfast sign

The BBC has helped to change a misleading warning sign in Belfast, which was causing cars to drive the wrong direction up a one-way street.

Authorities removed a traditional "no entry" notice when they introduced a bicycle route through Joy Street in the city, before replacing it with a smaller blue sign indicating no access for vehicle traffic, reports the BBC.

However, motorists did not understand the new sign or simply ignored it because a number of drivers were travelling the wrong direction, with Libby Leary's car being one of those involved in an accident as a result.

It is important that drivers have a strong understanding of all road signs and contact the authorities if they feel that any are unclear and could lead to an accident, which is exactly what Ms Leary did.

After she contacted the BBC, new "no entry" signs were put back up and Ms Leary told the news provider that she is "thrilled" by the news.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801475878-ADNFCR
