Boston construction workers to receive safety awareness events

8th June 2010 | Construction Signs

Individuals involved in the construction industry in Boston are being encouraged to attend two free health and safety-related events.

The South Lincoln Training Group Association has joined forces with the Health and Safety Executive for the awareness days at the Princess Royal Sports Arena.

Scheduled for June 15th and 16th, the events will include demonstrations of activities such as plumbing, bricklaying, plastering, roofing and electrical tasks.

There will be five main areas of focus in relation to construction site best practice, namely tidy sites and welfare, work at height, manual handling, transport and asbestos.

"Good health and safety at work relies on businesses and employees working together," said health and safety awareness officer Nicola Smy.

"At this event we hope to encourage new entrants to the construction industry to be aware of the risks they may face and take responsibility for themselves and their colleagues."

The construction industry suffers from a disproportionately high number of workplace injuries each year, meaning firms are encouraged to use safety signs where appropriate.
