Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) has been awarded a formal health and safety accreditation by the British Standards Institution (BSI).

The recognition may prompt businesses to assess the usefulness of their safety signs.

CFRS has focused on the reporting and investigation of accidents to guarantee that health and safety standards have improved for its employees, according to AboutMyArea.co.uk.

David Taylor, health and safety manager for CFRS, told the website: "As an employer, we have a duty of care towards our staff and by introducing a high spec management system, such as that recommended by the BSI."

The fire service has raised its game to offer standards that are unparalleled within its sector, Mr Taylor also stated.

UPM Tilhill was also honoured for its health and safety efforts recently, as the business collected a top award at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents' Occupational Health and Safety Awards.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800569617-ADNFCR
