Campaign addresses electrical dangers
5th October 2011 | Warning Signs

Residents and employers throughout Wokingham have been urged to check their fuse boxes as part of a new electrical safety awareness month that may lead to the introduction of new warning signs.
Until the end of October, the campaign, which is promoted by the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS), is calling on people to guarantee that the points of electrical intake in their homes and businesses are free of any combustible materials, reports Get Wokingham.
Chris Bunyan, group manager for RBFRS, said: "Typically fuse units are located in cupboards under the stairs which get filled with combustible materials like coats, ironing boards and other household items."
The campaign has been timed to synchronise with the risks associated with a change in season, Mr Bunyan commented.
Elsewhere, a deadly tree fungus has led to the closure of selected areas of the Ballaugh plantation on the Isle of Man.
