Crewe business leaders attend safety seminar

Businesses in Crewe were reminded of the importance of health and safety procedures such as implementing warning signs at a special seminar last week.

Health and safety training provider Safety Advisory Services (SAS) discussed directors' responsibilities towards their employees at the event, which took place at Crewe Business Park.

In an interview with the Crewe Chronicle, SAS spokesman Tony Birchall explained that health and safety concerns should always rest on bosses, regardless of the size of an organisation.

He told the news provider: "Without the involvement of directors, an organisation will not be able to achieve the highest standards.

"But people still get injured or suffer work-related ill health or injuries at work and some quite sadly lose their lives due to accidents at work."

Crewe and Nantwich MP Edward Timpson attended the event, while representatives from Cheshire East Council, Bombardier Transportation, CLS Care Services, Sumitomo, Nick Brookes Demolition and Rische Construction were also present.

Last week, the Health and Safety Executive held a special event in Penrith, Cumbria to illustrate the importance of precautions such as safety signs in the farming industry.
