Crewe's Safety Advisory Services (SAS) has handed its local outstanding achiever of the year in health and safety management award to a Lloyds Banking Group representative, indicating the rewards that may be given to those who effectively install safety signs.

Eric Barbour from the company collected the honour after he finished the NVQ Level 5 in management of health and safety at SAS' Training Centre in Crewe, reports the Crewe Chronicle.

Ron Birchall, managing director of SAS, told the newspaper: "He has been outstanding with his own progression and developments. Eric is very active with his charity work and is a good role model for the health and safety profession."

This news comes after the Argus reported that Brighton police station recently failed a fire safety test because officers were not sufficiently trained in evacuating the premises.

Staff at Sussex House in Crowhurst Road, Brighton, were also not properly trained in the use of fire extinguishers.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800710232-ADNFCR
