Dudley Council has launched a new road safety campaign to coincide with Valentine's week.

Working in partnership with local authorities and West Midlands Fire Service, the council has introduced its For My Girlfriend campaign, which aims to emphasise the consequences of dangerous driving.

It hopes to urge young men to take responsibility for their female passengers.

Councillor Judy Foster, cabinet member for transportation, said: "I am pleased to see we are taking this action at a Black Country level to raise awareness of the dangers of speeding and inappropriate driving.

"The figures relating to the number of young people killed or seriously injured on our roads are shocking and I hope this campaign helps to get the message across."

It is crucial for drivers to exercise caution on the roads during the winter months, or they could easily put themselves and their passengers in danger, especially when snow and ice is on roads.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801541191-ADNFCR
