Companies in Exeter have been requested to carry out a survey in order to understand the health and safety advice required in the city.

It is hoped that the research will allow Exeter City Council to discover the level of support required in the area, amid concerns that many businesses are having trouble coming to terms with regulations.

Councillor Greg Sheldon, lead councillor for environment and leisure, said: "A third of businesses think that health and safety is an obstacle to growth, yet are often confused about the scope of regulations, not necessarily distinguishing between legal requirements and recommendations."

The survey is available from the authority's official website and only takes a few minutes to fill in.

It is paramount that businesses understand health and safety laws, as any uncertainties could lead to staff being placed in danger.

Fines or more serious penalties will also be handed out to companies that do not adhere to regulations.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801394382-ADNFCR
