The importance of workplace health and safety and issues such as safety signage were outlined in a recent awards ceremony.

Frank Haslam Milan (FHM) north-east has been regarded as one of the safest construction companies in Britain by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The firm was handed RoSPA's Occupational Health and Safety Sector Award at a ceremony earlier this week. This honour recognises the company's accident records as well as its health and safety management systems.

David Mellor, managing director of FHM north-east, said: "The RoSPA awards recognise organisations for making health and safety their number one priority.

"This is the third out of the last four years where we have received this major award and it is credit to everyone working within the organisation."

Earlier this week, the Health and Safety Executive embarked on a tour of colleges and construction sites in the north-west of England.

Entitled the White Van Roadshow, it will focus on stopping workplace falls.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800551142-ADNFCR
