The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has launched a Company Car Drivers' Handbook in a bid to help plan and manage journeys.

It features key information that is presented in an easy-to-read format, focusing on topics such as driver licensing to vehicle checks and helping to boost the health and safety of drivers.

Sally Thornley, FTA's general manager of compliance information services, said: "We have produced this publication as a direct result of requests from our members and it makes a welcome addition to the highly valued FTA Goods Vehicle Drivers’ Handbook and Van Drivers’ Handbook."

Ms Thornley went on to say that the resource should be used in association with the group's own policies to guarantee that road users are both safe and working within the law.

FTA's announcement is not the only recent effort to improve road safety, as the Scottish Occupational Road Safety Alliance (ScORSA) have held seminars on the topic.

Its Driving Risks at Work seminars took place last month and aimed to help those who need advice on managing occupational road riskADNFCR-2754-ID-801379262-ADNFCR
