Hawkswood Nature Reserve reopens with safety signs

The Hawkswood Nature Reserve has reopened with new safety signs after being shut for eight months.

Its gates were closed after the local council determined that fences, signs and a life belt needed to be introduced to the site, though volunteers have now made the amendments, enabling the area to re-open, reports the East London and West Essex Guardian Series.

A representative from the council said: "As well as ensuring the site is safe for the Friends and other visitors, the council has also been working on plans whereby the group can have greater overall responsibility for the nature reserve."

The spokesperson also expressed his appreciation for the hard work, determination and commitment of the Friends of Hawkwood Nature Reserve group, which is the volunteer group that helped with upgrading the site.

It comes after Shropshire Live revealed that Building Trust In Safety has introduced a free audit service, helping companies to boost their health and safety.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800706324-ADNFCR
