Hawley residents question new road sign designs

Hawley is close to benefitting from new road signs, but the design of them has split the community.

The notices would be positioned at the start of Hawley and notify road users of a 30mph speed limit, with two designs being drafted, reports Get Hampshire.

These feature a 30Mph speed roundel with “Welcome to Hawley village, please drive carefully” placed underneath. However, this message has been criticised by one local.

Parishioner Keith Clarke said: “There is nothing to say that you are entering Blackwater and I think it should say that you are entering both Blackwater and Hawley. I would like to see it more as a combination rather than saying this side is Blackwater and this side is Hawley.”

It is paramount that councils check the accuracy of their warning signs before introducing them to roads, as mistakes can easily be made.

If the location or speed limit in question is incorrect, drivers could find themselves confused over their location, while on-road safety could also be jeopardised.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801576326-ADNFCR
