The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has opened a six week consultation focused on changes to chemicals legislation.

It is requesting comments on plans to update and simplify the domestic regulations, relating to European Union laws on biocides, export and import of hazardous chemicals (PIC) and classification and labelling of chemicals (CLP) regulations.

The consultation aims to outline how HSE proposes to alter regulations without adding new responsibilities or reducing the protection for workers, the public and the environment.

Deborah Traynor, HSE's consultation manager, said: "Simplifying and consolidating the regulatory requirements concerning biocides, CLP and PIC will make it more straightforward for businesses in the chemical industry to understand and comply with their responsibilities."

Recently, the HSE warned farmers about the importance of protecting their wellbeing while machinery is being used at work.

It also held a number of safety and health awareness days, which provide tips and guidance for those who harbour any concerns about using the equipment.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801512921-ADNFCR
