Ice signs introduced in Worcestershire

New signs that warn of ice have been introduced in Clifton-upon-Teme in Worcestershire.

The notices have been installed as an extra precaution because of the wintry weather that had been seen in the region over recent weeks, reports the Tewkesebury Admag.

However, some locals have criticised the warning signs, with resident Jerry Johns describing them as "more of a traffic hazard than any ice".

This prompted Jon Fraser, customer and community manager for highways at Worcestershire County Council, to step up and defend the notices.

"The safety of road users is extremely important, particularly during the winter months when ice is a potential hazard," he told the news provider.

Mr Fraser added that the signs have been introduced in areas where this is an increased risk, including surface run-off from fields.

This week has seen snow fall in numerous areas of the country, and the Met Office has warned that more could be on its way.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801523207-ADNFCR
