The need for accurate and up-to-date warning signs has been highlighted after a truck got severely stuck at a tight bend in Billington, Clitheroe.
According to the Clitheroe Advertiser, a Welsh lorry driver unfortunately got his vehicle wedged at the double bend, on Whalley Old Road at Painter Wood, this week. It was eventually freed by recovery services.
The latest incident will come as no surprise to locals, as it is one of a number of similar incidents on the dangerous stretch of road.
Tom Flanagan, a local resident, told the newspaper that outmoded warning signs in the area were the root of the problem.
"The warning signs are inadequate and need updating. So why after so many incidents have they not been?"
The 40-year-old driver told police he had been using his map properly for guidance but had misjudged the bend and did not realise how tight it was in time to act.
According to the Lancashire Telegraph, a heavy goods vehicle crashed into a fence on the road just last month.
