Inspectors to monitor safety signs in London businesses

8th February 2010 | Health and Safety Signs

A round of inspections by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will assess the use of safety signs by businesses in London this week.

HSE inspectors will be visiting companies in Hammersmith and Fulham to determine whether adequate working practices are being put in place, such as ensuring that health and safety signs are visible.

The main drive will occur on February 9th and 10th, when issues such as workplace transport, machinery safety, manual handling, slips and trips, working at height and asbestos usage will also come under the microscope.

"Though the focus will be on providing help and advice, inspectors will also take enforcement action if necessary to ensure any essential improvements are made," the HSE said.

Meanwhile, firms in Direst will also be visited by HSE inspector over the next few days, who will be assessing the use of precautions such as health and safety signs.
