The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) has announced Jan Chimel is the organisation's new chief executive.

Mr Chimel is currently the chief executive of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and will take the place of Rob Strange OBE, who will be leaving his position in April.

He said he is looking forward to working with IOSH's staff and members in a bid to move the organisation forward.

"It’s an exciting time to be joining this successful team as IOSH is best placed to address the challenges of improving occupational safety and health in a changing world," Mr Chimel explained.

Mr Strange had kind words to say about his successor, noting that he has "every confidence" in his replacement.

News of this appointment comes after IOSH announced a new office in Dublin, where the organisation will work with public bodies, local businesses and other groups in a bid to reduce workplace accidents.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801506017-ADNFCR
