Experts at the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) assembled last week to emphasise the importance of worker protection.
Members from IOSH's South Downs branch met to discover new methods of helping people to realise the true importance of workplace health and safety.
IOSH South Downs branch chair Steve Andrews said: "Many people will have experienced health and safety training at work, but so often this doesn’t translate to the factory floor, the office, or the road."
Mr Andrews stated that employers have a responsibility to ensure that the safety information they provide is both interesting and effective, while also being appealing and relevant.
Recently, a study by IOSH suggested that reduced employer liability premiums for effective health and safety management would be an advantage for firms.
More than two-thirds of respondents to the research suggested that improved access to high-quality health and safety guidance would be beneficial.
