Health and safety professionals in the Isle of Man have been given the opportunity to participate in a national diploma that is focused on occupational safety and health.

The qualification could help to boost people's understanding of safety signage and will be run by the Department of Economic Development. Entitled the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health, the course is seen as a gold standard for the industry.

Andy Stewart, training services manager for the Employment and Skills Group, said: "The Employment and Skills Group supports a wide range of vocational training through the facilitation of bespoke courses and the provision of financial assistance."

Mr Stewart commented that the qualification ensures that high quality, industry recognised training is available locally.

Earlier this month, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents' Health and Safety Forum was confirmed.

The event will aim to investigate methods of how health and safety challenges can be defeated, with appearances from businesses such as Scottish Power and Unite.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800776240-ADNFCR
