Larkfleet Homes has held two health and safety assemblies at a Lincolnshire school in order to teach students about the hazards of playing on building sites.

Joe Yardley, the company's health and safety officer, spoke to children at Bourne Abbey Academy about the safety necessities of such sites and explained the meaning behind common warning signs, according to WhatHouse.co.uk.

"These assemblies will go some way to ensure that pupils are aware of the risks of playing in and around building sites and this is even more important with the summer holidays approaching," Mr Yardley explained.

He added that Larkfleet Homes feels "very strongly" about ensuring safety on building sites.

Elsewhere, the National Federation of Builders (NFB) was recently commended for its health and safety work, after it collected an honour for its Stay Safe, Stay Away scheme at the CIOB Commitment to Construction in West Yorkshire awards.

Julia Evans, chief executive of the NFB noted that every child who learns about the dangers of building sites is potentially a child saved from injury.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801355861-ADNFCR
