Locals call for warning signs at Matlock cliff

Matlock locals are now calling for warning signs to be introduced at a scenic area of the Dales.
At the weekend, one man fell around 20 feet from a cliff in Birchover, with the Matlock Mercury reporting that the individual suffered serious injuries during the incident, resulting in firemen using rope rescue equipment to bring him to safety.
Gillian Miller, who runs a guest-house in the area, told the news provider: “I was woken up by the sound of the emergency services. But the screams from the injured man were so loud – I’m sure the whole village heard!”
Ms Miller explained that alcohol was found and warned that the rocks are “dangerous enough” even without the dangers that come with being intoxicated.
It is vital that Britons warn their local authority of any areas which they believe are lacking essential warning signs.
Action could make a big difference to people’s safety, keeping them away from areas where their personal safety may be at threat.
