London road signs confusing drivers?

9th August 2011 | Warning Signs

Motorists in London have been left confused after a number of warning signs were erected on roads in the city.

The signs were introduced by Sutton Council and Sutton and East Surrey Water in an effort to direct road users around roadworks that have been put in place to replace water mains on Central Road, though they feature spelling mistakes, according to This Is Local London.

Speaking to the news provider, councillor Simon Wales, executive member for communities, transport and voluntary sector for Sutton Council, said: "Although local residents are often aware of these issues, we have to make sure that restrictions are clear to all motorists."

Mr Wales noted that he will inform the utility company responsible for the signs about the misspellings.

Elsewhere, an article for the Birmingham Mail has reported that Birmingham residents are angry about the removal of some traditional ornate cast-iron Victorian street signs. ADNFCR-2754-ID-800693722-ADNFCR
