Masham set to gain more warning signs

More temporary warning signs will be erected around Masham, which will help people from the south navigate to the town.

The signage will be installed along the A1 between junction 50 with the A61 and the B6267 at Sinderby. It is hoped that the move will allay fears that businesses would suffer drops in takings due to tourists struggling to locate the area, reports the Ripon Gazette.

Speaking to the newspaper, Masham MP Julian Smith said: "I am pleased that the Highways Agency have listened to the concerns of residents and businesses in and around Masham and are improving the temporary signage from the A1 upgrade roadworks."

His remarks follow comments from Dave Merett, cabinet member for city strategy at the City of York Council, who believes that new government proposals will enable York's streets to be freed of clutter and unnecessary safety signs, while authorities will be provided with more flexibility.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800779275-ADNFCR
