Nationwide Platforms' SkySiren has picked up a new award from the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) after being warmly received by clients.

The firm picked up the innovation of the year prize for the system, which has been used on a number of the UK's largest projects after being launched at the end of 2011.

Commenting on the technology, the judges said: "We were impressed by the development of this technology in response to a real problem, and that it is now being widely used by those who can benefit most from it."

Furniture and catering equipment hire company Thorns Group is another that has collected a reward for its health and safety work, with EventIndustry.com reporting that its procedures were put through a comprehensive vetting process before winning a SAFEcontractor accreditation.

The panel included spokespeople from Transport for London, Rolls-Royce, TUC and a range of health and safety directors, consultants and advisors.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801477623-ADNFCR
