New IOSH initiative aims to reduce injuries among actors

A new initiative by the Institution of Occupation Safety and Health (IOSH) is aiming to lower the number of injuries suffered by actors and theatre workers.

The campaign has been launched in the West End due to worries that knowledge on measures such as safety signs is not up to date with developments in the industry.

Richard Beale, chartered member of IOSH and managing director of RB Health and Safety, the company who are the brains behind the course, said: "As audiences demand more interesting stunts and special effects on stage, the risk to those involved in a performance increases."

Mr Beale asserted that a large amount of resources have been invested into the course to ensure that it meets the industry's requirements.

IOSH has also scheduled a Training Roadshow in Cambridgeshire on September 22nd, as the firm looks to heighten workers' awareness of safety signs.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800731098-ADNFCR
