New roadshow aimed at south-east construction firms

Construction companies in the south-east are currently benefiting from a roadshow designed to promote the benefits of safety measures such as warning signs.
Advisors and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) inspectors will visit sites in Newbury, Newhaven, Maidenhead, Rochester and Coulsden over a two-week period which started on Monday (June 7th).
Demonstrations and presentations will focus on the safety risks involved in untidy sites, working at height, manual handling, transport, asbestos and other dust-related diseases.
HSE project manager Tim Shambrook said: "The White Van Roadshow is the perfect way to reach out to the industry and educate workers on how simple steps can prevent serious accidents.
"The aim of the tour is to be engaging and show construction workers that we understand the pressures of working on a construction site but that cutting corners when it comes to health and safety is never a good idea."
HSE officials decided to launch the roadshow as part of its Working Well Together initiative, which is a partnership with the construction industry.
Using safety signs is crucial on construction sites, as they play host to a disproportionately high number of employee injuries every year.
