New signage to be installed on Kidderminster road

New safety signage will be fitted on a Kidderminster road, informing drivers when they are travelling too fast.

The move comes after residents expressed concerns over the safety of children crossing Heronswood Road, where drivers have been known to surpass the 30mph limit. However, the new sign hopes to reduce incidents of speeding, reports the Kidderminster Shuttle.

Speaking to the newspaper, conservative Wyre Forest councillor John Aston stated: "I think it's a very good idea and it will certainly help the safety of the children trying to cross the road.

"I would still like to see a crossing or some sort of warning that children are crossing the road but it’s a step in the right direction."

It comes after a Southend councillor told The Echo that signs situated in the area's seafront are not good enough.

Graham Longley, leader of Southend Council’s Liberal Democrat group, told the newspaper that the position of the signs is questionable.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801272798-ADNFCR
