NHS called on to prevent smoking at hospital

13th June 2014 | No Smoking Signs

Posted by Ben Alexander

The Forth Valley Royal Hospital has been receiving complaints recently, after it emerged that patients and visitors were still smoking outside the main entrance and in other areas of the grounds.

The facility has taken steps to make sure this doesn't happen, including putting up no smoking signs all around the hospital and keeping a tobacco control officer on staff. However, this does not seem to be deterring determined nicotine addicts.

Gerry Henderson, a visitor to the hospital, told the Falkirk Herald: "On my way from the car park, despite all the no smoking signs displayed, the amount of people deliberately disregarding the warnings was unbelievable."

A spokesperson assured people that the hospital was taking further measures to prevent smoking, including improved signage and smoke detectors.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801728002-ADNFCR
