The Farm Safety Partnership has been unveiled to reduce the number of deaths and injuries across Northern Ireland's (NI) farms.

It has been introduced by the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI), the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) and the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU).

Also, George Lucas, chairman of the HSENI, will chair the group.

"The dangers of working on farms must be confronted. This partnership led approach demonstrates the agricultural industry's commitment to preventing deaths on our farms," Mr Lucas explained.

He emphasised that fatalities are preventable and urged everyone in the agricultural community to put across the message of "Stay Farm Safe".

The topic of farming safety was highlighted in Devon and Cornwall recently, where Duchy College and Lantra-approved trainers carried out sessions to focus on working at height, manual handling and the safe use of farm machinery.

More than 100 farmers have taken part in the practical workshops.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801354785-ADNFCR
