New safety signs have been introduced in Oxford, advising cyclists to walk on a hazardous footpath.
The notices have been introduced in Parry Close, Marston, following a number of incidents where pedestrians have been hit by bikes or collisions are caused between cars and those on two wheels, reports the Oxford Mail.
Councillor for Marston Mary Clarkson told the news provider: "I’m very glad that the signage has gone up. It’s good to get permanent signs that look official and hopefully that will help to get the message through."
The track has been criticised by homeowners, who believe it is dangerous and are worried the £157,000 cycle path will be even more dangerous once a link is completed between Marston and the city centre.
Local resident John Maguire described the situation as "crazy", claiming his neighbour almost ran over two cyclists as a result of poor visibility in the area.
