Private school closed due to safety issues

A private nursery school in Aberdeen has been closed after it was found to have serious safety failings. The Hamilton School has been taken off the Register of Independent Schools after inspectors raised serious concerns about the wellbeing of students.
A series of complaints, from both parents and staff, led to a police investigation. The Scottish government also ordered an inspection, which found that pupils at the school were not necessarily "safe and well cared for".
The displaced students have been taken to Braeside School, a disused primary school, where they have been provided with fully-qualified teachers and educational psychology services. An experienced head teacher will be in charge of the temporary establishment.
Bill Maxwell, chief executive of Education Scotland, said: "I want to assure all those affected that the closure of the school was necessary to ensure the safety and welfare of the children attending there."
