UK restaurant chain Nando's has assigned a consultancy firm to monitor its construction health and safety.

It has appointed Merebrook Consulting to ensure that workers are as safe as possible, with EatOutMagazine.co.uk reporting that the move will see the group co-ordinate Nando's property portfolio.

Matthew White, senior project manager from Nando's, told the website: "Nando's UK currently operates 261 restaurants, employs nearly 9,000 staff and serves close to one million customers a week and their wellbeing is paramount to us."

Mr White explained that Nando's was looking for a partner to understand its requirements and provide a planned strategic approach when it comes to protecting employees.

Earlier this month, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) presented the Diamond Jubilee Award to the Olympic Delivery Authority in honour of London Olympic Park being the safest Olympic stadium build of all time.

Roughly 62 million of hours of work was put into the development, with an accident frequency rate of 0.17 per 100,000 hours.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801372519-ADNFCR
