Rics introduces new health and safety guidance

9th June 2011 | Warning Signs

Posted by Jason Nicholls

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) has launched new health and safety guidance that may affect the types of warning signs used by companies.

Its Surveying Safely guidelines include the ethical, moral and practical issues that property specialists encounter in the industry, such as occupational health concerns as well as the procurement and management of contractors.

Ian Watson, chair of Rics health and safety advisory group, said: "This new guidance will be of benefit to Rics members, property professionals and organisations to assist in providing premises and working practices for the health and safety of all."

Surveying Safely will combine current health and safety recommendations and refine them, ensuring that they are relevant to Rics members and property specialists, Mr Watson also remarked.

A study conducted last month by the British Chambers of Commerce found that nearly half (47 per cent) of UK businesses feel that the existing health and safety regulations are burdensome. ADNFCR-2754-ID-800572869-ADNFCR
