Road signs causing business losses in Tiverton?

6th September 2011 | Warning Signs

Companies in Tiverton are concerned that road closures and consequential warning signs are causing them to lose thousands of pounds.

Work is being conducted to repair draining pipes and resurface roads in the Leat Street area, resulting in road signs diverting traffic away from the entire Westexe area, where numerous businesses are based, reports the Mid-Devon Star.

Philippa Grainger, owner of Easy Life in Westexe South, told the news provider: "The roadworks are a problem. We know they have got to be done but maybe more groundwork could have been done to make things a bit clearer."

Signs meant that when the road did open, it was "like the floodgates opening" as cars flocked to the area, Ms Grainger noted.

Flintshire has also suffered issues with warning signs, as roadworks blocked drivers from reaching businesses in Connah's Quay even when the repair work was completed, the Flintshire Chronicle has revealed. ADNFCR-2754-ID-800720073-ADNFCR
