Road signs to be improved on A2

31st May 2012 | Warning Signs

Posted by Ben Alexander

Work will begin to improve warning signs on the A2 between Brenley Corner and Dover next week.

The improvements will start on June 6th and are scheduled for completion by July 22nd, but this is dependent on the weather conditions.

As part of the move, one lane will be closed on dual carriageways with a speed restriction of 50mph, while temporary traffic lights will be fitted on single carriageways.

Kevin Bown, Highways Agency asset manager, said: "We will be repairing or replacing a total of 121 signs and posts over a distance of almost 25 miles along the A2."

Mr Bown continued by saying that some of the signs require upgrades in order for road users to be assisted with their journeys.

Signage upgrades have recently taken place elsewhere in the country, with West Briton reporting that Cornwall Council representative Julian German has restored historic signposts in the Roseland with assistance from the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty team.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801375868-ADNFCR
