Roofing event to highlight construction sign importance

23rd February 2010 | Construction Signs

Members of the roofing industry will be warned about the importance of using workplace precautions such as construction signs to help prevent accidents.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is holding an event at Wallasey Town Hall in Wallasey, Wirral today which will bring workers and employers in the roofing trade together.

According to the organisation, the aim of the event will be to illustrate how important it is to use precautions such as safety signs when working at height, to make sure that both fellow workers and members of the public are not placed in danger.

"The HSE is concerned that some companies may be trying to save money by allowing employees to work on roofs without scaffolding or other safety equipment," the organisation said.

Recently, Bob Russell, Liberal Democrat MP for Colchester, backed a bid by the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health to improve the safety of the country's workplace by using precautions such as warning signs.
