The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has launched a new hotline, which aims to help schools and colleges effectively manage their safety processes.

It was introduced alongside the company's new Managing Safety in Schools and Colleges guide during a recent event at Birmingham's NEC venue.

Earlier this month, RoSPA backed Scotland's efforts to lower the drink driving limit, supporting plans to reduce the legal limit from 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood to 50mg.

As well as offering general advice, RoSPA is giving out tips relating to audits, risk assessments, leisure and water safety, policy development and minibus driver training.

David Rushton, RoSPA's head of education and leisure, said: "The education landscape is changing as more and more schools move to academy status, often losing the health and safety expertise previously provided by local authorities. We want to help these schools manage safety and health to keep their staff and visitors safe."ADNFCR-2754-ID-801503392-ADNFCR
