RoSPA warns to stay safe during the storms

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has warned UK residents, particularly those living or working in areas that are at risk of flooding, to be especially careful during the storms.

Businesses as well as homes need to be careful in order to avoid the dangers of flooding. Flood damage can cost a company a lot of money, and cause loss of custom and even property.

However, RoSPA's chief executive Tom Mullarkey said: "Whilst much of the focus is on damage to property, the risk to the safety and the health of those affected must be the nation’s top priority."

Businesses need to be aware of the warning signs of flooding, and take action to be prepared in case of an emergency. RoSPA recommends drawing up a flood plan, and keeping an eye on a flood risk map.

After a flood has subsided, RoSPA also pointed out that businesses should not be too keen to get back to work, as turning on electricity and gas supplies before you have had professional advice saying it is safe to do so can be dangerous.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801694617-ADNFCR
