Safety concerns arise at Colwyn Bay

11th August 2011 | Warning Signs

Warning signs have been introduced at Colwyn Bay in Wales, after its derelict pier began to crumble and showed signs of disrepair.

A panel has fallen from Victoria Pier onto the promenade below, triggering worries that the structure is a hazard to individuals walking in its vicinity. Due to the pier's poor condition, a Conwy Council representative has written to those in charge of the site, reports the DailyPost.co.uk.

Royce Peeling Green is in charge of the structure and Conwy's development and building control manager Phil Hardwick wrote to them, saying: " I am writing to advise you that the remaining adjacent panels should be investigated to ensure any panels that are insecurely fixed and are in danger of falling are identified."

This week, the Western Mail reported that the Machen Mountain race, one of the UK's most established fell-running events, has been cancelled because of health and safety worries.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800696362-ADNFCR
