Safety plea for hazardous Chichester road

8th June 2011 | Warning Signs

A councillor has issued a safety plea to improve the safety of a road in Chichester, which may benefit from improved warning signs.

The B2178 road is becoming extremely busy and has been the location of a number of unfortunate accidents, including a devasting crash on May 22nd that took one man's life while injuring six others, reports the Chichester Observer.

Numerous motorists have begun using the road as an alternative to the A27, which is often congested.

Chichester city councillor Richard Plowman told the news provider: "We do need to resolve the traffic problem in Chichester and much of that stems back to the A27.

"The B2178 is a winding road, visibility is not good and when people are queuing they get impatient and take risks."

A bike convention in Oxfordshire was cancelled this month as a result of safety worries, reports the Witney Gazette.

The Cassington Bike Night event was scrapped because of concerns over the number of people taking part.ADNFCR-2754-ID-800571245-ADNFCR
