Safety signage used for Tall Ships event

9th August 2010 | Warning Signs

Safety signage will be erected around a marina in Hartlepool to inform the public over access restrictions.

According to the Hartlepool Mail, organisers of the Tall Ships event in the city will install health and safety signage to inform those attending the event that certain areas are closed for safety reasons.

There is concern over public access to the site's lock gates.

These are the metal mechanisms which open and close to allow vessels to enter and exit the marina.

However, the gates are narrow, so organisers have taken the decision to close them to public access.

Safety signs and stewards will be on hand to help point out alternative routes to visitors of the event.

Tall Ships is a major festival that attracts visitors and vessels from all over the world.

Last month a coastguard official urged people to heed warning signs after a young girl fell whilst walking in Fife, Scotland.
