Safety signs could be installed in a number of Woodford Green streets to prevent drivers from hitting bollards.

The Epping Forest Guardian reported that Redbridge Council has introduced three bell-shaped bollards at the High Elms and Elm Grove junction in the area in April following several crashes.

Homeowners in the area have told the news provider that more must be done to prevent the collisions, with warning signs suggested as a possible solution.

Councillor Clyde Loakes, Waltham Forest's cabinet member for environment, told the news provider: “Officers from both Redbridge and Waltham Forest are discussing the ‘rat run’ issue, though we are aware that Elm Grove residents are opposed to one potential solution (i.e. a one-way system) and that any future proposals will have to be supported by local people.”

Mr Loakes underlined that signage could be used to help improve safety in the local area.ADNFCR-2754-ID-801608054-ADNFCR
