A team of pupils is campaigning for safety signage to be erected at Pickering Park in Hull in an effort to ensure people stay safe around water.

As part of their Lifestyle challenge, Bethany Price, Nikkita Hall, Hannah Hayes and Lauren Moore have united to establish the West Hull Warriors group, the Hull Daily Mail reports.

Newland School for Girls pupil Bethany Price told the newspaper: "We noticed that there were not any water safety signs around the pond in Pickering Park, so we spoke to a park ranger about it."

After speaking to the park official, the group decided that they wanted to raise money for a sign to ensure that the pond is safe.

The group's initiative follows the London Assembly's call for new safety measures to be introduced on Blackfriars Bridge.

Members have worries over the road's safety, with some wanting a 20mph limit to be sanctioned. ADNFCR-2754-ID-800633877-ADNFCR
