A seven-year-old from Lightmoor Primary School in Telford has designed a safety sign that will be erected outside of his school.

Ryan Ellis had entered a competition run by Telford Police to design the signs, in light of ongoing traffic accident problems in the surrounding area, reports Shropshire Live.

Speaking to the website, community support officer Ann Moore said that all 50 safety entries received for the competition had been extremely good.

She added: "The multi-agency approach between ourselves, Bourneville Village Trust, Telford & Wrekin Council and Lightmoor Primary School was extremely successful and has certainly helped to promote the road safety awareness message.

"We look forward to seeing the road sign outside the school."

The news comes as members of the London Assembly continue with efforts to try and get warning signs installed on Blackfriars Bridge, amid growing concern about the risk to cyclists from buses and other road users.
