School warning signs fixed - after six months

Leaving faulty warning signs in place for a long period of time can pose significant safety risks.
This week (December 2nd), it was reported that defective warning signs close to the entrance of a school in the Scottish Highlands are set to be repaired – nearly six months after it was first noticed that they were faulty.
Speed limit warning signs near a junction close to Banavie Primary School haven't been working since June, the Lochaber News reported.
Councillors, parents and staff at the school have voiced their concern over the situation, as the warning signs are designed to operate at key times, such as when the pupils are arriving for the start of the school day.
In August, a temporary measure was installed, but only after the newspaper reported a town councillor's frustration over the lack of movement on the part of road chiefs to permanently resolve the situation.
However, it now looks like a resolution is on the horizon. A spokesperson for roads maintenance firm Transerv told the newspaper: "Everything is now in place and we're just waiting for a break in the weather to get the new lights installed. It will be done as soon as possible.
"There is a long lead-in time for this particular piece of technology. We appreciate this has taken a long time to be addressed."
Councillor Bill Clark welcomed the news, but expressed concern over the length of time is has taken to fix the signs. He told the newspaper: "Has this equipment been shipped on a slow boat from China or something?"
Recently, the head of a school in Wales was lucky enough to have fully operational warning signs.
However, the signage at Ysgol Dewi Sant, asking drivers not to park illegally, was simply being ignored by many parents.
